Unto the Lord…

Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (NIV)

Thank you for continuing to pray and give this week! We have seen a few more donations come in, and are prayerful that we will continue to get closer to our $10K Frame goal as August 11th quickly approaches! In Colossians I am reminded that no matter what distractions I may have in my world, or whatever season I may be working through, God is with me and has placed me. Therefore, He expects me to work for Him each day, in all I do, with a kind heart – even when I may not feel kind or positive – remembering all the while what He has called me to do, and that I am His child… always.
Join us on August 11th! If your Summer is a little crazy, and you are unable to do so, consider giving in support of the day! We would love to add more hearts to the frame today!!

Springs of water…

“He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.” Isaiah 49:10b (NIV)

Life is full of decisions. From decisions that seem small like choosing what to eat for breakfast to larger decisions like saying yes to a marriage proposal, deciding where to raise your family, or saying yes to a commitment that will change your current course in life. This scripture reminds us that God will guide us through each decision in life. Lysa TerKeurst once gave the analogy, “Imagine [an] opportunity as an amazingly attractive but fast-moving river. There’s so much that looks extremely appealing about this river that you’re going to be tempted to jump right in. But once in the river, you have diminished your ability to make decisions. That river is moving so fast that it will take you where it is going. And if you haven’t carefully determined in advance whether you want to go all the places where the river flows, you’ll be in trouble.” Her imagery reminds us that stepping out in faith is something God calls many to do, as several of us on the Board of Directors are doing with Elevate, but not everyone is called to “jump right in.” Some may want to take the time to test the water, or walk beside it. Learn more about our organization but reaching out today. Pray over if you might want to be involved and in what role, consider helping us raise our $10K by August 11th, attend our “sneak peak” prayer event, or simply be encouraged that you have a calling, it may not be this one, but take your time alongside the river, and listen close to hear clearly what it is, and then “go.”

I am His sheep…

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27).

Do you consider yourself a sheep? In a good way… Not a follower of the herd (if I am using that animal grouping correctly!), but a follower of God’s voice. Do you truly listen and hear Him clearly? I know that I try my hardest to do so, but even when I think I finally do, there are days I question if I am layering in my own personal desires to what I feel He is saying. Thankfully, as I am reminded this morning, “Jesus doesn’t tell us if we dig deep enough or study long enough or go to church often enough we’ll be able to uncover the hidden mystery to hearing His voice. Instead, Jesus lists only one prerequisite to hearing His voice: Be one of His sheep.” (Proverbs 31 Team) Be intentional with our time. Our choices. Our finances. Our relationships. We are thankful for the 4 hearts that have donated so far to our $10K frame and are prayerful for more to join! Don’t forget, $500 and above is Platinum status a memorialized spot in our front garden! You don’t have to donate this amount alone – just share who we are and have your family or friends support alongside you, because you also believe in the need to support these young moms and their kids in our community before the snow flies this year. His steadfast love…

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases…” Through struggle, through trials, through what may feel impossible at times it is a great reminder that His love is steadfast. It never ceases – in other words, He never stops loving us, and He never gives up. In fact, His mercy is new every morning. No matter what happened yesterday, today is a new day. God loves us anew each day, and we are called to extend that same love towards others. That’s the mission of Elevate. To share his steadfast love, His “ultimate kindness,” with those who desperately need to believe that today can be different than yesterday, and that they can be loved for who they are, and met right where they are. Join us August 11th in prayer!

No eye has seen…

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” As we continue to press on through the surprises and struggles of opening our 1st home, I am reminded of this promise. If we truly love Him, if we truly trust Him, we can rely and rest in the fact that he has a plan and has prepared the way. We must only continue to walk with Him through it all, and rely on His unfailing love. The struggle is real – but His love is greater! I must only believe it as deep down as I need to on the hardest day to persevere alongside Him. Join us for a sneak peak of our home and prayer on August 11th! Elevatehopehouse.org/dayofprayer

“The thief comes…”

“The thief comes…” There are days where I feel overwhelmed in trying to do Kingdom work. Mom work. Work work. Wife work. And so much more “work.” I feel as though I simply am not enough, or that God called the wrong person for His vision. Thankfully, this verse reminds me that “the thief” is at work every time I feel disheartened, or not good enough, or believe in the words others closest to me say out of anger or frustration. This pain is the work of the thief. He comes to kill and destroy, but my identity is in Christ alone! He is the opinion and the strength that matters most. I am thankful for this reminder this morning. For a team that believes in the same vision and is working alongside me to renovate a home so we can support young moms and their kids through a journey to self-sufficiency, and shutting out the thief’s lies, in order to believe God’s truth about His love for them. Whatever you do…

“Whatever you do, work at it with your whole heart…” Sometimes the road seems arduous, and unclear. Sometimes the road is well-paved and provides great direction. And other times, the road can seem clear, but take unpredictable twists and turns along the way. Each of our Board of Directors continues to witness this first hand in both their personal lives, and as a team, as we work to open Elevate’s doors come October. Join us for a day of prayer on August 11th, and consider giving as well so we can support young moms and their children in our community with our whole heart! Just $25 will provide a new set of sheets for a young mom’s new bed – a concept that might be gift in and of itself after sleeping on a couch, while pregnant, or even a floor. Join us! Those who seek Him…

“Those who seek me, find me…” Over the weekend the bedroom closets for the young moms moving in started to go up! I am reminded of Fervent Prayer and the importance of having a quiet place to seek Him. When we seek Him, we find Him… How often do we start our day without seeking Him in the business of life? How often do we feel empowered to go about our day of our own strength? For me, this is more often than I care to admit, but this verse reminds me, challenges me, instills in me, the reminder of the importance of starting my day with Him first so that I can be equipped with Him to fight the battles that lie ahead of me in the day to come. These young moms will have closets that are all their’s. A quiet place to seek Him if they choose before starting their day of learning and growing on the path to self-sufficiency through Christ! Encourage one another…

“Encourage one another…” This morning I am reminded of how important encouragement of one another truly is in our each and every day. Even when someone appears to be just fine, we all have a little brokenness inside. A kind word can do wonders. Holding one’s tongue when frustrated can make or break a person’s day. We are called to be encouragers. I am excited for our Future Residential Housing Advocate. A Christian Mom choosing to encourage the young moms that move into our house each and every day by literally living alongside them. What a blessing for our ministry. Want to learn more?
